Unlocking Burn and Trauma Databases: From Benchmarking to Breakthroughs

Cliff Sheckter, MD, and Sam Mandell, MD, are experts in burn research who will provide an overview of database usage in burn research, addressing the strengths and challenges of the BCQP, NTDB, HCUP, Burn Model System National Database, and state-specific trauma registries. Dr. Sheckter will discuss how these various databases can be combined/cross-referenced to answer specific questions and Dr. Mandell will share his work related to benchmarking. Bart Phillips, founder and CEO of BData will give an overview of the Burn Care Quality Platform (BCQP) and BCQP Lite: what’s there, how to access it, what are the costs.
