Common Data Elements

With the imminent closing of the National Trauma Research Repository (NTRR), CNTR is focused on promoting the data dictionary that has been developed by panels of subject matter experts over the course of NTRR development. We encourage investigators to adopt those common data elements and definitions that make sense for their studies. While study data may no longer be uploaded into the NTRR, the use of common data elements will enable investigators to combine study data sets for secondary analysis in the future.

CORE CDEs

Below are the small set of Trauma Core Common Data Elements (CDEs) that are recommended to be collected in prospective studies.

Additional Basic CDEs specific to several therapeutic environments (epidemiology, prehospital, acute hospital, rehabilitation & outcomes, and social determinants of health), their definitions and permissible values can all be downloaded at the buttons on the right.
